Contractor was dancing for nearly ten years at that time, decided she was ready to focus on acting. After graduating high school, she accepted a full award to the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in psychology and sociology. Contractor, who had completed her university degree, went on to audition during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. The show she played in 92 performances were praised by Canadian theater critics. Contractor accepted the offer to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females are admitted for a 20-week intensive course in classical theater. Contractor was offered a spot for the following season and was given the role of Hermia.
